Wax
Humans have been obsessed with removing body hair for millennia. Fire, caustic chemicals, and sharp objects were the tool of the trade but nothing provided lasting results... well maybe the fire. Waxing removes hair from the root leaving you smoother for a longer time, and regular waxing tends to reduce the amount of hair that returns. Combining different wax types and soothing botanical products before and after your services makes the process as pleasant as possible.
A few things to remember before your waxing service:
The hair needs to be approximately 1/4 of an inch long (the length of a bottom eyelash) for the wax to remove it from the follicle.
Waxing can cause some discomfort. Taking a mild pain reliever before your service may help minimize the discomfort. Topical anesthetic creams may be applied to the area 20-30 minutes before you arrive for your service.
Discontinue using Retin-A, Differin Gel, Adapalene, Tretinoin, Renova, Obagi, and any other non-OTC acne or anti-aging products 4 weeks before your service.
Discontinue using any OTC acne or anti-aging products 2 weeks before your service.
Discontinue Accutane at least 6 months before you schedule for a wax.
You cannot schedule a waxing service during active herpes/cold sore breakout. Wait 2 weeks after the scab is gone.
As always, proper hygiene is appreciated.
Things to remember after your waxing service:
Avoid touching the waxed area for the first day.
Depending on the area, your skin may be sensitive so avoid hot water when showering, aggressive washing, usingaggressive products, and avoid exfoliating the area for the following few days.
Redness and slight swelling are common immediately after the waxing and can be covered with mineral makeup.
Small bumps may form usually 24-48 hours after the wax, resembling ant bites or small pimples, as a result of the follicle being irritated. Products that help prevent ingrown hairs can be applied.
Ingrown hair may happen, especially in the bikini area due to constrictive clothing pushing against new growth. Gentle exfoliation during the new growth period can help minimize ingrown hair.
Avoid UV exposure for 24-48 hours.
